Furniture Painter

Finisher / Sprayer

HMJ Furniture is a high-end bespoke furniture and cabinetry manufacturer based in South East London. We are looking for a skilled, detail-focused Finisher / Sprayer to join our workshop team.

This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in furniture, cabinetry, or joinery production, who takes pride in producing high-quality finishes.

Requirements

• Minimum 3–5 years’ proven experience in furniture, cabinet, or joinery paint finishing and spraying. Appropriate references will be asked for on application.

Key Duties

• Preparing surfaces through sanding, cleaning, and spray priming
• Applying high-quality hand finishes to MDF, solid timber, and veneered components
• Working closely with cabinet makers and joiners to ensure finishes complement the construction and detailing of each piece
• Working across multiple projects simultaneously, managing time efficiently
• Carrying out on-site work for final touch-ups when required
• Meeting deadlines and communicating clearly with workshop management to maintain production schedules

Key Skills

• Proven experience spraying paint and stains, achieving a consistent, high-end finish
• Excellent hand-finished work (brushed and rolled finishes are essential)
• Confident use of airless spray equipment and other professional spray systems
• On-site painting and touch-up / snagging experience is a distinct advantage

Role Details

• Location: South East London workshop (SE16)
• Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
• Salary: £35,000 – £45,000 per year (dependent on experience)
• Overtime and weekend work available
