Deputy Headteacher – L21 – 25 (London fringe)

We are seeking to appoint an exceptional and inspirational Deputy Headteacher – quality of teaching, learning and assessment to join our Senior Leadership Team.

This is a key strategic role within our Special Educational Needs School, working closely with the Headteacher to drive school improvement, lead curriculum development and secure outstanding outcomes for pupils with SEND.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to both lead and manage effectively, establishing a strong climate for learning and promoting equality, inclusion and high expectations for all.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategic development, implementation and evaluation of an ambitious, inclusive curriculum.
  • Drive improvements in teaching, learning and pupil achievement across the school.
  • Oversee effective use of assessment and data to identify gaps and raise standards.
  • Contribute to whole-school self-evaluation and school development planning.
  • Lead and develop staff, including performance management and professional development.
  • Build effective partnerships with parents, external agencies, the Local Authority and MAT schools.
  • Using data and evidence to monitor progress and improve outcomes • Undertake Designated Safeguarding Lead responsibilities.

  • Be an experienced and successful senior leader, ideally within a SEND setting.
  • Demonstrate strong strategic leadership and the ability to manage change.
  • Have a proven track record of improving teaching, learning and pupil outcomes.
  • Be skilled in data analysis and school self-evaluation.
  • Be resilient, reflective and solution-focused.
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Be deeply committed to inclusion, equality and safeguarding.
