Finance Assistant
Location: London (multi-site support role)
Reporting To: Key Account Director
Houston & Hawkes are seeking a detail-oriented and commercially aware Finance Assistant to support our key client locations across London. This is a pivotal role within the business, providing in-depth financial analysis, reporting and governance to ensure strong operational controls, accurate forecasting and consistent financial performance across multiple sites.
This role is self-funded by locations and plays an essential part in maintaining financial discipline, supporting budget targets and driving informed decision-making within our premium contract catering environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review weekly sales, gross profit, labour and overheads for each contract against budget
- Ensure each site effectively utilises GP and labour tracking tools
- Report and validate weekly sales data, including reconciliation against EPOS systems
- Spot-check invoice processing and clearing procedures
- Provide on-site support during holidays, resource shortages or critical business periods
- Review control documents (pantries, hospitality, sub-P&Ls) for formula accuracy and data integrity
- Verify internal cross-charges across multiple P&L sites for accuracy
- Conduct random stock take spot-checks at period end with BOH and FOH teams
- Review stock sheets to ensure pricing accuracy
- Conduct quarterly sales mix analysis at each location
- Produce monthly and quarterly sales mix reports including top sellers, bottom sellers, product contribution to sales and gross profit
- Make commercial recommendations based on data insights and produce relevant client statistics
- Support period-end Excel reporting to minimise movements at Account Passing
- Track core versus agency labour spend and make labour utilisation recommendations
- Support monthly, quarterly and annual client reporting with accurate data, analysis and visual presentation
- Assist with the budgeting process, including year-end projections, cost analysis and consistent formatting across locations
What We’re Looking For:
- Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail
- Experience within finance, commercial analysis or reporting (hospitality or contract catering experience desirable)
- Confident working with Excel and financial tracking tools
- Ability to interpret financial data and provide clear recommendations
- Strong organisational skills and ability to work across multiple sites
- Professional, proactive and commercially minded approach
