Painter and Decorator

We are currently recruiting for painter to commence on external redecoration works in Central London.

Specific duties vary depending upon the project and employer, but typical responsibilities include:

• Evaluating work surfaces: before you start working on a project, the condition and size of surfaces will need to be determined to be able to carry out the preliminary work required. From the initial assessment.
• Preparing the work area: this could involve climbing fixed scaffolding, installing scaffold towers, setting up work platforms and protecting surrounding areas and surfaces as necessary.
• preparing the surface to be painted: requirement to fill in crevices and holes in walls using fillers. External walls often need sealing and the application of a spot coats. Joinery repairs using fillers. And abrading surfaces prior to application of paints. Metalwork and railings scraping loose and flaking paints and spot priming with metal primer before readying for finishing coats.
• Applying the correct paints to the correct surfaces and applying the prescribed number of coats. Along with further preparation between coats as found necessary.
• Cleaning the work area after painting: removing protective covers and dismantling support structures is a vital part of the role to ensure that the area and all tools are left in a safe and clean condition.

It's also important to stick to deadlines and budgets and ensure that quality standards are met by using high-quality products. Being courteous to building occupants and residents along with a can do attitude.

£180-210 per day /CIS (Price work may be available)

Be required to work 8-10 hours per day.

contract will vary from 2-6 Months.

Monday to Friday and maybe some Saturdays as required.

The Role:

Preparation of existing surfaces, scraping loose and flaking paints, preparation of surface for decoration, applying fillers to walls and joinery as required. Along with other preparation work using caulks and the like.

Ability to follow a specification and to work under your own initiative.

Masonry paints to exterior surfaces and walls

Primers/undercoats and gloss to joinery

Primers and metalwork paints to metal surfaces

Other application of system paints as necessary

Assist others where required to get the job done

Requirements:

· CSCS

· Tools

· PPE

Experience:

• Painting: 3 years (required)

Licence/Certification:

• CSCS
• First Aid (desirable).
